Why Women+

Why Women?

  • Failures and gaps in contraception most often fall on the people that get pregnant.

  • There are female specific health needs, especially in contraceptive research.

  • Women's health has often received insufficient attention. It still receives relatively low research and innovation funding.

  • Until 1986 clinical trials typically did not include women.

Why "+" ?

  • We all benefit from more contraceptive choices and we are allies in the endeavor to broaden options.

  • Binary definitions of gender and sexuality can be exclusive.

  • We will focus on female-controlled contraceptive methods with a commitment to non-binary, transgender, and sexual partners who might benefit from better contraceptive methods.
